Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has been endorsed by 9 Member of Parliament to take over as the new Gusii Spokesman, a position previously held by former Cabinet Minister Simon Nyachae.
They legislator observed that the fiery CS has all it takes to objectively and successfully push for the interests of the Gusii community.
The MPs were speaking at Sironga SDA where they had accompanied Dr Matiang’i to a fundraising ceremony.
The lawmakers,majorly from Nyamira and Kisii county, indicated that they were focused on having the agenda of the gusii community catered for by the national government.
The legislators included: Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango),Josh Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Alfa Miruka (Bomachoge Chache), Ben Momanyi (Borabu),Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba),Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North), Jerusha Momanyi (Nyamira Women Rep) and Samuel Arama (Nakuru West).
“In the future reorganization in the government, we are planning to make exceptional demands as a united community in mind with Matiang’i in mind. We have him in the front and we should support him at all costs,” Nyamoko said.
He also cited the arrest of Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama as a concerted effort to gag him after he expressed his support for CS Matiang’i’s crackdown on sugar barons.
According to the constitution,a cabinet Secretary is not allowed to engage in politics but Matiangi’s endorsement has been seen as a move to propel him into politics.
